Mary Reynolds

Kane |

Mary Lou Reynolds, 85, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

She was born on August 25, 1938 in Fidelity Township, Jersey County, Illinois and was the daughter of Glenn and Luella (Fenton) Brooks.

She graduated in 1956 from Southwestern High School, and was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mary Lou had a strong personal faith, which she quietly shared through her own soft and gentle nature.  She and her husband Sam, were avid travelers and enjoyed spending time driving and seeing the country, and enjoyed spending time at whatever beach they were near. She was a marvelous homemaker, specializing in taking care of everyone and everything, making sure that no one ever left her home hungry. Most of all, Mary Lou loved her husband and family, and took immense joy in watching her children and grandchildren grow. It is impossible to express just how much she will be missed.

She married Samuel L. Reynolds on May 1, 1960 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville, and together they have been blessed with 63 years of a loving marriage.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel Reynolds of Kane; her three children and their spouses, Paul and Lisa Reynolds of Carlinville, Marsha and Paul Boschert of Edwardsville, and Steven and Kim Reynolds of Litchfield.  She adored and was immensely proud of her four grandchildren and their spouses, Samantha Boschert of Portland, Oregon, Gregory Reynolds of Edwardsville, Matthew and Alexis Reynolds of Columbia, Missouri, and Maggie Reynolds of Litchfield.

She is also survived by her sister and brother in-law, Ruth Ann and Vernon Naugle of Medora; and a sister in-law, Carol Brooks of Medora.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Brooks.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until time of funeral services at 11:00 on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville.  Rev. Joel Lohr will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the Bethel Baptist Church in Jerseyville or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
