Mary Munzebrock

Mary L. (Kinser) Munzebrock, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.

She was born in Walkerville, Illinois on April 15, 1928, and was the last surviving of five children born to Otho Wayne and Ethel M. (Early) Kinser.

She was a graduate of Greenfield High School, and later graduated from Central Beauty School in Alton.

Mary was a licensed hairdresser for 71 consecutive years, owning and operating her own salon in White Hall, and then Carrollton.   During her career she was blessed and cherished her many long lasting, beautiful friendships with her clients.

She lived her beautiful life guided by her strong faith in God, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrollton. She loved to travel, and was fortunate to have been able to take numerous trips that included Hawaii, Europe, cruises, and visited many states in the USA. In addition to her huge heart and beautiful smile, Mary was known for her keen eye for fashion, and always dressed classy and fun.

Holidays were very special to Mary as she cherished the family gatherings.  As Christmas was her favorite time, she took great pleasure in decorating her home, and as an excellent cook, she relished cooking and baking for her family.

She married Robert N. "Munzy" Munzebrock on September 29, 1956 in Jacksonville, Illinois.   Together they were blessed with 47 years of a cherished marriage before his death on September 10, 2003.  Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising three incredible daughters.   Their legacy of love and dedication, as well as the bond they shared, will forever remain in the hearts of those they touched.

Surviving are two daughters and a son in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Butler and Carolyn Kelly, all of Carrollton; a son in-law, Paul Gerson of O'Fallon, Missouri; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey Gerson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melanie and Tim Fessler of Carrollton, Kelly Gerson of Chesterfield, Missouri, Justyn and Sarah Gerson of O'Fallon, Missouri;  a granddaughter in-law, Soo Lee of Naperville; six great grandchildren, Ashley Fessler, Taylor Gerson, Jakob Gerson, Maddox Gerson, Cecilia Gerson and Henry Gerson,

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cyrena Gerson on February 7, 2022; a sister, June Florence; and three brothers, Wayne Kinser, Kenneth Kinser and Claude Kinser.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of funeral services at 12 noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.   Rev. Adrian Lamkin will officiate.

She will be laid to rest alongside Munzy at the Carrollton City Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to either St. Louis Children's Hospital or to Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Mary was the absolute sweetest, most devoted and giving wife, mother and grandmother.  She is, and will always be, deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
