FIELDON - Mary Magdalene Tant, 89, died peacefully at 12:55 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Calhoun Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hardin.

She was born on March 8, 1925 in Eldred, one of three daughters born to the late Howard and Ethel (Herring) Winchell.

Mary graduated with the class of 1943 from Calhoun High School and lived the majority of her adult life in Hartford where she was active in the Moose Lodge of Wood River and was an avid bowler at Wood River Bowl for many years.

She also worked as an Executive Secretary at Owens-Illinois Glass Works for more than 30 years before its closing.

She married Harold Tant on March 8, 1959 in Wood River, and together they shared nearly 38 years of marriage before his death in 1997.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia Winchell of Fieldon and  a grandson, Robert Lee Winchell Jr. of Medora.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Winchell and two sisters, Helen Gerson and Virginia Isringhausen.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4 at Rose Lawn Memory Chapel in Bethalto. 

Burial will take place alongside her husband, Harold at Rose Lawn Memory Chapel in Bethalto.  

Memorials may be given to Hope Animal Rescues in Godfrey.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
