Mary Mohr

Mary Lou Mohr, 85, passed away on December 5, 2017 at 10:25 a.m. with her family by her side.  She was born October 13, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to the late Rudolph Sr. and Mary J. (Furtah) Ferk.  She married Charles A. Mohr Sr. May 28, 1955 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death in 2009 after 55 years of marriage.  Mary Lou, along with Peg Schelle and the rest of the 6-pack, was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing School.  Upon graduation, Mary Lou worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital before transferring to the Alton Children’s Clinic, where she would later retire in 1991.  She was a lifetime member of the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Alton Women of the Moose 1131.  Mary Lou enjoyed bowling with friends teaching her grandchildren how to fish, and spending time with family and friends.  She is survived by her son, Charles A. Mohr Jr. of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Allison Mohr and Chris Harrington of Alton, Charles A. Mohr III and Caitlin Phelan of St. Louis, MO, two great grandchildren, Kendall and Kenlee Harrington of Alton, and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and great friends including Jim and Barb Nauert of Quincy, IL.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Rudy Ferk Jr., Harvey Fisher, sister, Juanita Kennedy, nephew, Chuck Kennedy, and stepfather, John Fisher.  A special thank you to her OSF caregivers, Cindy, Barb and Joanne.  Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton.  Father Jason Stone and Father Peter Donohoe will co-officiate.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or OSF St. Anthony Medical Center Hospice.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
