Mary Lou McGinnis passed away at home with her family by her side on November 4, 2009 at 11:17 p.m. She was born April 25, 1932 in Charleston, West Virginia the daughter of Claude and Agnes Campbell. She graduated from Mountain State Nursing School in 1952. She worked at Charleston Memorial Hospital before transferring to Illinois where she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, then Alton Memorial Hospital until time of retirement. On June 13, 1953 she married Conrad W. McGinnis and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1982. Surviving are two daughters: Claudia A. and John Kozonasky of Godfrey and Virginia J. and Jason Hausman of Alton. One son: Michael W. and Debbie McGinnis of Godfrey. Eight grandchildren: Brian and Kristi Stahlschmidt of Alton, Chad and Amber Stahlschmidt of Brighton, Lee Ann and Brian Biggs of Godfrey, Josh McGinnis of Springfield, MO, John Michael Kozonasky of Godfrey, Tara Kozonasky and Don of Godfrey, Jessica McGinnis and Paul of Alton and Connie Snyder of Alton. Seven great-grandchildren: Tyler and Trey, Hope and Sierra, James, Lucas and Samuel, a sister Doris Gillespie of Circleville OH and sisters-in-law Rebecca Campbell of Westerville, OH and LaBelle McGinnis of Gainesville, FL and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents and her brother James R. Campbell. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8th and will continue Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at GENT Funeral Home in Alton with Kevin Hausman to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice of Alton or a memorial of your choice. Online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.
