Mary Kanallakan

Mary Lou Kanallakan, 88, went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at 11:45 PM.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1928 to Stephen “Pop” Healey and Rosa Jane White Healey.  She married Jimmie Antone Kanallakan on her 18th birthday on Oct. 26, 1946.

She had six children; Linda Lou Blaine & husband Bob, Lavonne Rose King & husband Ronald, Frank Van Kanallakan & wife Cathy, Melea LaVena Gwillim & husband Steven, Stephen Ladd Kanallakan & wife Mary,  Jamie Antone Kanallakan & wife Danielle.  Mom has 19 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren and four Great-Great-Grandchildren. Our dad passed away in 1977 at only 50 years of age. Moms Grandson Kipling King and Kip’s dad Ronald King are also deceased.

Mom had incredible talent for collecting, building and restoring 1860’s German China Dolls.  She made beautiful dresses and everything else you would have worn in the 1800’s. Mom was a talented seamstress and made a large percentage of our clothes. Mom took care of her children, home and trailer park. The Lord gave mom an instinct to know how to do a hard job and the grit to do it. She never played a game and seldom watched TV. It was her life to accomplish something every day.

She will be shown at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville from 9 AM to 11 AM, Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 where funeral services will be at 11 AM. Pastor Robert Blaine will officiate. Burial will be at White Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the White Cemetery.
