Mary Strohbeck

Mary L. Strohbeck, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.She was born on June 11, 1935, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Marion and Ida (Daubman) Douglas.She married Virgil Ralph Strohbeck on March 16, 1956.  He preceded her in death on March 24, 2003.Mary was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She was the devoted farmer’s wife and mother who took great care of her children and grandchildren.Survivors include her children, Steve and Nancy Strohbeck of Fosterburg, Karen and Brad Huette of Bunker Hill; five grandchildren, Deanna (Tim) Obernuetemann, Samantha (Ryan) Woodman, Roxanne, Megan, and Jacob Strohbeck; three great grandchildren, Elaine, Paige, Kailey; and her best friend, Helen Manko.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Darrell Strohbeck; and three siblings, Norman Douglas, Dolores Dooley, and Wanda James.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Julie Gvillo officiating.Burial will follow at Fosterburg Cemetery.Memorials may be given to Fosterburg 4H or Zion Presbyterian Church in Fosterburg.Online condolences can be given at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
