Mary Ellen Klinke, 81, passed away at 8:45 am on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Alton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born on January 30, 1944 in Alton, IL the daughter of Quentin and Maxine (Pace) Wiseman. Mary married James Edward Klinke on October 2, 1965 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2016.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She graduated from Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Mary was a dedicated nurse and worked for many area hospitals. She worked for many years at Alton Mental Health Center in Alton.
Mary is survived by two children and their significant others, James "Chris" Klinke and Michele Thompson of Alexandria, VA, and Heather Klinke and Chad Fifer of Madison, WI; and a granddaughter, Harlow.
In addition to her husband; Mary is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 4:00 pm until a Prayer Service at 5:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A private burial of her ashes will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials are suggested to the 5 A's and St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.
