Mary Jane St. Clair, 90, died at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born January 27, 1920 in Alton, she was the daughter of Hubert and Hilda Thornhill.
She owned St. Clair's Market in Godfrey. She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Alton and also the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. On September 7, 1939 in Alton, she married William M. "Bill" St. Clair. He preceded her in death.
Surviving is a daughter, Connie Clark of Mattoon, IL, five sons; John St. Clair of Little Rock, AR, Charles St. Clair of Bethalto, Sam St. Clair of Las Vegas, NV, William G. St. Clair and his wife Faye of South Carolina, and Bob St. Clair and his wife Hayley of Lafayette, LA, 18 grandchildren; Annette (Ken) Lehman of New Berlin, IL, Elizabeth (Greg) Goodwin of Ladonia, MO, William (Michelle) St. Clair of Pismo Beach, CA, Robert St. Clair of Texas, Brain St. Clair of Charlotte, NC, Mary Jane (Scott) Lorenz of Rockford, IL, Lynn (Terry) Leffler of Mattoon, IL, Stacey Brown of Tallula, IL, Karen Baker of Mattoon, IL, Paula (Dan) Karnes of Mattoon, IL, Jennifer (Billy) Liggette of Sanford, NC, Missy (Richard) Bacque of Lafayette, LA, Stephanie St. Clair of Lafayette, LA, Robyn (Charlie) West of Jupiter, FL, Dana (Jeff) Golaszewski of Wood River, David (Donna) St. Clair of Lonoke, AR, Donald St. Clair of Remington, IN, and Lonni Weaver of Little Rock, AR, 11 great grandchildren, one brother, Melvin Thornhill of Alton, four sisters; Mark Cox of Alton, Annie Coontz of Alton, Viola Bussmann of Alton and Janet Bailey of Phoenix, AZ, and her longtime friend Dianna Bouilllon of Alton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Heather Nichole St. Clair, her son-in-law, Norris Clark, six sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Blu Fountain Nursing Home Activity Department.
