Mary Evelyn Roberts, 86, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the daughter of Harry and Blanche (O'Dell) Wertenberg.
She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Godfrey.
On Sept. 5, 1945 in Battle Creek, Mich., she married Elmer J. Roberts and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and her husband, Linda (Jon) Schmoeller of Godfrey; four grandchildren, Sherry (Dennis) Freeman, Deanna (David) Gunter, Lori (Ron) Bloom and Elizabeth Schmoeller and her fiance, Jon Hisaw; four great-grandchildren, Ashley (Nick) Calame, Jessica Schofield, Jonathon Heintz and Clayton Long; two great-great granddaughters, Madison and Lillian Calame; one brother, Harold Wertenberg of Belmont, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, with the Rev. Kenneth Tegtmeier officiating. Private burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
