Mary Schwaab

Mary Ellen Schwaab, age 66, of Godfrey, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.She was born June 23, 1949, in Alton, the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Laumeyer) Schwaab.Mary was a Business Analyst with Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 39 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. For years, Mary marched in the Alton Halloween Parade with seven other witches.She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Donald E. and Marilyn Schwaab of Godfrey, Jack M. and Patricia Schwaab of Godfrey, and Nan C. and Dr. Wayland Jones of NC; eight nieces and nephews and their spouses, Michele Schwaab of Durham, NC, Tamara Lea Barker of Plantation, FL, Suzanne and Dr. Scott Anderson of Hot Spring, AR, Thad Nicholas and Anne Schwaab of Hoffman Estates, Rene and Rick Brethorst of Springfield, Bridget and Todd Ross of Festus MO, Joel and Deborah Schwaab of Alton, and Nell and Paul Bott of Winnabow, NC; several great-nieces and nephews; numerous dear cousins; and beautiful friends.She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Terry Schwaab and a nephew, Thad Michael Barker,A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.Burial will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society 5 A’s Animal Shelter or to Women’s Hope Center.Staten-Fine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guestbook may be found at www.staten-fine.com or www.facebook.com/eliaskallalandschaaf.
