Mary J. Dunaway, 75, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 1:51 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her home with her family at her side. Shee was born January 12, 1949, in Highland, Illinois, a daughter of the late James and Claudine (Compton) Lovsey. She married Kenneth V. Dunaway on March 20, 1971, in Caseyville, Illinois and he survives.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the special times shared with her family. She had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed her days camping, fishing, golf cart rides and her flowers. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by five children and their spouses, Rodney and Janet Dunaway of Mt. Clare, Illinois, Donna and James Goetter of Collinsville, Robert and Kelli Dunaway of Staunton, Jeanetta and Tony Mitchem of Collinsville and Mendy and John Gili of Collinsville; 70 grandchildren and great grandchildren; ten brothers and sisters; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and three grandchildren, Robert Dunaway Jr., Traysion Turner-Seib and Kenny Hose. In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice and may be accepted at the funeral chapel. www.irwinchapel.com
