Mary Dolores Jilek, 90, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, at 7:35 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family
She was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 20, 1927, the second of five children born to Raymond L. and Rhoda Marie (Booth) Lammy, and had just recently celebrated her 90th birthday with a family celebration on Thanksgiving Day.
She attended Jersey Township High School, and was a loyal and devout member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon.
For many years she was the manager of the snack bar at the Moose Lodge in Jerseyville, and many will remember her from her days at the Dairy Queen in Jerseyville, where she enjoyed making the ice cream cakes.
She married Herbert Charles Jilek shortly after he returned from serving with the U.S. Army on Dec. 19, 1945 in Jerseyville. They shared 69 years together before his death on May 20, 2015.
Surviving are her five children and their spouses, David and Jean Jilek of Springdale, Arkansas, Carol and Patrick Shenberger of Hamburg, Karen and James White of Alton, Paul and Elaine Jilek of Jerseyville, and Mary and David Patton of Godfrey; along with two sisters and a brother in law, BernadineTonsor of Jerseyville and Janice and Herbert Hagen of Fieldon.
She was the loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Calvin and Ashley Jilek, Janelle Jilek, Christopher and Denise Schleeper, Cheri and Shad Burris, Sonya and Ted Schumann, Bradley and Nicky Woelfel, Jerrad Woelfel, Ashley and Garfield Yuen, Michelle and Dusty Stelbrink, KatieJilek, Rachel and Josh Jordan, Heather and Andrew Price, Devon Patton and Deanna Patton, as well as 16 Great Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son in- law Charles Schleeper; two brothers and a sister in- law, John LamoineLammy who was killed in action during World War II and Freddie and Patricia Lammy; her father in-law and mother in-law, John and Elizabeth Jilek; a brother in-law, Bernard Tonsor; and a brother in-law and sister in-law, Lauretta and Ray Alexander.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fieldon.
In recognition for the service they provided her husband, memorials may be given to the Color Guard of the Jerseyville American Legion, or to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society, in recognition of their dedicated service to their fellow parishoners.
