Mary Hickman

Evangelist Mary Dell Hickman, 69, was born May 23, 1948 in Merigold, Mississippi.  She was the eldest child of the late Grady Hickman and Bessie Prince Perry. She was called from home to the Lord from her royal position of providing relief and deliverance to all who required it on Monday November 06, 2017 at 8:06 am.

Mary accepted Christ in her adulthood and served as a faithful member at Alton Community Church of God under Bishop Henry S. Connors and continued many years with Pastor Diana Williams until she relocated to Riverdale, Georgia.

Mary retired from Alton Laborers International Local 218 and was a proud Union member. One of her major accomplishments was being one of a handful of ladies that helped in the construction of the famed Alton’s Clark Bridge (Super Bridge).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Perry, step son James Stewart Jr., and granddaughter DeCarol Renee Graves.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: Five devoted sons - Anthony (Sherell) Hickman of Rockledge. FL, Ira Carthell (Rhonda) Hickman of Kansas City, MO, Tracy Hickman of Atlanta, GA, James (Carmen) Hickman of Atlanta, GA, and Grady (Katrina) Hickmon of Atlanta, GA and one step daughter, Misty Stewart-Thompson of Oak Grove, Kentucky.  She leaves to mourn six loving siblings –Walter Rean Morgan of St. Louis, MO, Grady (Debbie – wife deceased) Hickman, Jr. of Springfield, IL, Benard Perry of Alton, IL, James (Linda) Perry of Maryland, and Tammy (Andre) Binford of Godfrey, IL.  She also leaves nineteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted relatives and close friends.

 Visitation will convene Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Deliverance Temple Complex Church of God in Christ.  Family and friends will gather Monday, November 13, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. at Harrison Funeral Chapel for interment at Upper Alton Cemetery at 8:30 a.m.  Online Registry is available at www.harrisonfuneralchapel.com.
