Mary Champion

Mary Ann Champion, age 77, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.  Mary was born on January 7, 1947, in Edwardsville, IL, the daughter of the late Michael & Ida (Menoni) Gagliardo.  Mary married Ralph David Champion on August 7, 1965. 

Besides her husband of almost 60 years, Mary is survived by her three children, Ralph Champion, Jr. & wife Kelly, of Hampton, VA; Michele Dunning & her husband William, of Lincoln, RI; and Stephen Champion & wife Elizabeth, of Davenport, FL; eight grandchildren, Brittney Fairweather & husband TJ, Tiffiny Champion & fiancé Connor Martz, Deborah Dunning, Suzanne Dunning, John “Jack” Dunning, Samantha Champion, Nathaniel Dunning, and Erin Champion; two great-grandchildren, Emily & Owen Fairweather, a sister in law, Judy Gagliardo, and many loved nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents Mary was preceded in death by a brother Gerald “Jerry’ Gagliardo.  Mary enjoyed making crafts of all types and anything Disney. 

She worked at Lee Russo Designs for many years. Mary was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel.  Most of all she loved her family and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, & friend. 

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 8, also at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Burden presiding.  Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.  The family suggests memorials to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel.  Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
