Mary Ann (Tepen) Ritter, 65, formerly of Jerseyville, died at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.Mary Ann was born on Aug. 23, 1947 in Carrollton, and was the daughter of the late John "Ben" & Catherine (Benz) Tepen.She graduated in 1964 from Carrollton Community Unit High School, and married her loving husband, Michael Ritter on Aug. 30, 1969 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton.Mary & Mike resided in Jerseyville for many years where he operated a daycare in her home. In 1989, she along with her family relocated to Murfreesboro, where she has worked in the auto auction industry for the last 20 years."Proud Mary' as she was affectionately referred, had a knack for always lighting up a room with her smile and had special way of making you laugh. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, and we all know that she never met a slot machine that she didn't like.A follower of the the Catholic faith, she was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church while in Jerseyville and the St. Rose Catholic Church in Murfreesboro.Surviving are her husband, Michael Ritter of Murfreesboro; two sons, Todd Ritter of O'Fallon, IL. and Thomas Ritter of Murfreesboro, Tn.,; a daughter Tiffany Ritter, and her partner, Amanda Hooten of Nashville, Tn.; five grandsons, Dillon (17), Challon (9), Caydon (8), Tegan (2), and Tate (5 mos.); a sister, Bernadine Hillen of Meppen; and three brothers, Jerome Tepen of Jerseyville, Joseph Tepen and Eugene Tepen both of Franklin; along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Tepen & Delmar Tepen; and her father in law & mother in law, Joseph & Esther Ritter.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m., Sunday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Catholic Church of your choice
