Marvin Jacobs

Marvin L. Jacobs, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, 3:52 p.m.at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.He was born September 2, 1924 in Wood River, Illinois and was the son of the lateClaude and Myrtle Jacobs.He married the former Anna Siglock on August 3, 1946 in Wood River; she preceded him in death on February 18, 2013.Marvin worked as a store room manager at Laclede Steel until he retired December 1, 1986. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Alton, where he served as an usher for Mass, the Knights of Columbus in Wood River, The Eagles in Alton, The Alton Owls Club, The Alton VFW post 1308 where he was also a member of the ritual team. He is survived by two sons, Brad (Cindy) Jacobs of Godfrey, Matt (Cara) Jacobs of Alton, and one daughter Tracy (Richard) Fleming of Lake Worth, Florida; 7 grandchildren, Lissa Sido, Ryan (Lisa) Jacobs, Alicia Wallace, Jacob Fleming, Mitchell Fleming, Eli Jacobs, Emmie Jacobs; and 6 great grandchildren, Jacob, Connor, Kayli, Brianne, Grace and MatteHe was also preceded in death by a daughter Gayle Ann Wallace.Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Elias-Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John Luong, O.M.V. officiatingBurial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto with military rites provided by Alton VFW Post 1308.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church in Alton or the charity of one’s choice.
