Marlene Frances Pison, age 89, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, formerly of Madison, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Evercare of Edwardsville.
Born on July 12, 1936, in Madison, Illinois, Marlene was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Dittrich) Chlibec.
On September 2, 1961, Marlene Chlibec married the love of her life, Robert Charles Pison, in Madison, Illinois. They shared many beautiful years together before Robert’s passing on April 4, 2005.
Marlene was of the Catholic faith. She was an avid reader with a passion for crafting and crocheting, and she found joy and calm in creating beautifully detailed works of art in her adult coloring books—always done with care and perfection. Her creativity and gentle spirit shone through in everything she touched.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her thoughtful heart, and the love she freely gave to those around her.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Nancy M. Elder.
She is survived by her devoted bonus daughter, Karen Zelechowski of Glen Carbon, Illinois; her treasured bonus granddaughter, Kathryn Zelechowski; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Marlene will be laid to rest beside her beloved Robert at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
Memorial donations may be made to the Granite City A.P.A., and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
