Mark Huelsmann

Granite City | Save

Mark Francis Huelsmann, 65, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital. Born May 19, 1960, in Breese, IL, to the late Virgil John Johnson and Judith Carol (Evans) Rennaux, Mark lived a life defined by resilience, loyalty, and a heart that never wavered in kindness.

A proud United States Army Veteran, Mark served his country with honor and integrity. Following his military service, he built a long career as an over-the-road truck driver, a role that suited his hard-working nature and unwavering dedication. Known for his steady reliability, Mark’s grit and determination left an enduring example for all who knew him.

Beyond work, Mark found joy in life’s simple pleasures—casting a line on a quiet fishing trip, playing a good game of pool, and laughing in the company of family and friends. His gift was making people feel welcome; he truly never met a stranger. To know him was to know warmth, generosity, and an easy smile that could light up a room.

Mark’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved son, Brett Huelsmann; his devoted brothers, Mike Huelsmann and Scott Huelsmann; and a circle of extended family and treasured friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, memories cherished, and his legacy of love and laughter honored.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made directly to them. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
