On October 3, 2023, the sweet soul of Mark Charles Dieu (66) was taken to rest while surrounded by family. His battle with serious medical diagnoses in recent years showed his courage and grit in facing life’s challenges with a smile.
The simplest pleasures in life brought Mark great joy. Mark held many titles in his life - construction business owner, railroad welder, scuba diver, guitar player, cancer survivor, man of faith, Harley lover, co-pilot, friend, uncle, son, brother, father-in-law, and father. But, his favorite title was Papa. Mark loved watching his grandkids play and enjoyed spending time with them.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. Dieu and Doris (nee Thompson) Dieu, and his best furry pal Charly. He is survived by his son Brandon (Kristen) Dieu, daughter Brienne (Ryan) Cason, six grandchildren - Kaitlyn, Jovi, Bristol, Tyce, Kori, and Beckham, brother Lou (Patti) Dieu, sister Alene (Dennis) Hill, nieces, nephew, two nephews-in-law, many dear friends and family, and his always-in-trouble pup Dutch.
A visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, IL on Saturday, October 21 from 2:00-4:00, with a memorial service at 4:00. A celebration of life will immediately follow the events. This will be held at the VFW Post 1117 in Caseyville, IL at 5:00.
