Marion P. Davis, 85, of Bethalto, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Alton Memorial Rehab.
He was born on February 7, 1939, in Bunker Hill, IL, the son of Victor L. and Dorothy L. (Spickerman) Davis. Marion married Shirley R. Wallace in Wood River, on April 19, 1975. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2017.
Marion was a member of Wood River Presbyterian Church, but frequently visited Moro Presbyterian with his mother, Dorothy. He was a hobbyist and loved to run RC cars and build model airplanes. He would often gather with friends at RC Club to eat at the restaurant at Lewis and Clark. He had a Snoopy airplane model he was proud of, as he built and flew it often. Marion went to Indy 500. He enjoyed going to steel guitar conventions, and playing his guitar as well. Another passion of his was photography and vidography, and even made a commercial. He would often travel to Branson, MO. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughters at the cheer games.
Survivors include his children, Jeffrey (Judy) Davis of Meadowbrook, and Sheryl (Gerald) Ramey of Godfrey; a sister, Lois Markham of Alton; grandchildren, Sara (Brad) Wright, Jeffrey Davis, Matt Schillinger, Sam Light, and Emily (Ryan) Williams; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Aria, Emily, Brah, Melina, Mariah, Madilyn, Max, Ruthie, and Blakley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Shirley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate. Burial will follow at Moro Cemetery.
