Marilyn K. Dehner, 68, passed away at 8:40 am, Monday, February 9, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital, with family at her side.
She was born in Detroit, MI on October 3, 1946, the daughter of the late Andreas “Andy” and Catherine “Kay” (Schuster) Schertzer.
She married Mark L. Dehner on July 17, 1971 in Dearborn Heights, MI.
Marilyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Michigan State University. She was an Elementary School teacher for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Marilyn loved her pets, traveling, spending time at the airport with her husband, and sitting by the water. She liked to watch sports on TV, especially baseball and hockey. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; one daughter, Amanda K. Dehner; and two grandchildren, Kevin and Hailey Dehner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard “Ricky” Schertzer.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Father John Luong as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
