Marilyn Ann Bilyeu, age 72, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home. Marilyn was born on July 14, 1952, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (Papes) Mang.
Marilyn will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a dear friend to many. She retired from Granite City School District, Worthen Elementary School as a special education teacher after 30 years of dedicated service.
Marilyn was an active member of P.E.O., which is a Philanthropic Educational Organization that supports women’s educational goals and an active member of Newcomers & Neighbors of Edwardsville, IL. Marilyn was also a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma an International Professional Society of Women Educators, where she served as president.
Marilyn cherished her family and grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and strong in her faith. She loved sisterhood, service, art and design, and had an adventurous spirit with the courage to travel and try new things. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elle Patricia Hewlett, and by a brother-in-law, Dr. Tim Stout.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Megan (Dr. Mark) Hewlett of Edwardsville, IL and Jeffrey (Rachel) Bilyeu of Troy, IL; dear siblings, Barbara Stout of St. Charles, MO and David (Mary) Mang of Reno, NV; proud grandmother to Harper Hewlett, Landon Bilyeu and Everett Bilyeu; nieces, Gina (Brian) Linhoff, Ellen (Paolo) Acuna, Amy (Jim) Scherer, Allison Mangiaracino and Stephanie (Chris) Goodwin; great-niece, Maria Linhoff; extended family and many wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
