D. Marie (Foiles) Millitello, 84, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton.
Born Feb. 2, 1933 in Kampsville, she was the daughter of Howard and Leona (Crawford) Foiles.
Marie married Frank Millitello June 12, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Church in Alton. He survives along with a son, Frank L. and his wife Kim Millitello of Alton; her granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband Ryan Keith of Springfield; a great grandson, Ewan; a sister-in-law Geneieve Foiles of Tyler, TX; nieces, nephews, many special students; and special neighbors, Ron and Carleen Dwyer and family.
A Jerseyville High School graduate, Marie earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education at SIUE. She taught 25 years at Southwestern School District #9 at the Medora and Shipman Elementary Schools. She also taught at St. Patrick’s and SS Peter and Paul Schools in Alton. She loved teaching and enjoyed her students, friends and staff. She also was a Cub Scout Leader. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, quilting, gardening and cooking. She loved to travel and most of all, enjoyed fishing in their bass boat. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton, St. Theresa’s Altar Society, Macoupin County Retired Teachers, IRTA, NEA-R, IEA-R, and Jerseyville Women of The Moose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy John Millitello; and brothers Paul, Walter, and Lowell Foiles; sisters-in-law Fern Foiles and Katherine Renfro; brother-in-law Carl Millitello; and an uncle, Donald Foiles.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 27 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton from 9 a.m. until services begin at 10:30 a.m. Father Bill Kessler will officiate.
Private family interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
