Maribeth Reed, 80, died at 7:03 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born December 31, 1943 in Alton, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Murray) Halliday. She worked for the Alton School District for many years as a clerk.
On November 21, 1964 in Niagra Falls, NY she married John Reed, and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jeffery Reed (Lisa) of St. Charles, MO and Scott Reed (Debbie) of Moro, IL, six grandchildren, Amber, Andrew, Helena, Matthew, Cassie and Zach, three great grandchildren, Brookelyn, Ellie and Conor and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Alice May Halliday.
Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
