Maria T. Carter, 53, passed away with her family by her side on December 23, 2025.
She was born on March 26, 1972, in Alton, Illinois, to Ronald J. and Earleen F. (Bushue) Cashill.
Maria married Steve D. Carter on October 30, 2004, at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
She was employed as a receptionist at Nameoki Dental and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Maria enjoyed puzzles, traveling, working on the internet, boating, playing games, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Carter; her mother, Earleen Cashill; her daughter, Emily Carter of Alton, Illinois; her stepson, Michael Carter of Springfield, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Martha Bushue; her paternal grandparents, Ronald (Jackie) Carter of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sister, Maryann Smith of Alton, Illinois; her brother, Paul (Ann) Cashill of Malaysia; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Nicholas, Emily, Emma, Sarah, Jackson, and Addison; along with several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald J. Cashill, and her maternal grandfather, Earl J. Bushue.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 AM on January 3, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, Illinois. Luncheon will follow.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
