Margie Erzen

Margie Ann Erzen died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton after an extended illness.  Born November 22, 1934 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Victor and Margaret (Augustine) Erzen.  She graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1952 and was employed by Shell Oil Company for 32 years in Wood River, New York City and Houston, TX retiring in 1984.  She was active in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and was the church organist for many years.  She is survived by two brothers, Richard and Tom Erzen, Sister-in-law, Edie Erzen, niece Laura Dempsey and nephew Dan Erzen.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vic, sisters-in-law, Emma Jean and Joann Erzen, nephews, Michael and Mark Erzen and nieces, Linda Lesh, Gail Kruse and Vickye Kivett.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017.  Father Tom Liebler will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masses at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto, Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, or to a charity of choice.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
