Bethalto | Save
Margaret Lee Roe, 79, of Bethalto, passed away peacefully at 10:34 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 27, 1946, in Alton, Illinois, to the late Ralph and Cordelia (Ross) Ross.
Margaret married Carl Edward Roe on June 1, 1963, in Meadowbrook, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2016.
Margaret dedicated more than 20 years of her life to the Beverly Farm community in Godfrey, Illinois, where she led the Physical Therapy Department with both expert skill and deep personal compassion. To her, physical therapy was more than a profession-it was a calling to enhance the dignity and quality of life for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Her bond with those she served was extraordinary, and she took immense pride in helping her clients achieve greater independence and mobility.
Following her retirement, Margaret continued her devotion to “the Farm” by serving on its Board of Directors. In this role, she used her decades of clinical experience to help guide the foundation’s mission of providing a loving and supportive environment for nearly 400 residents. Her legacy at Beverly Farm lives on through the countless lives she touched and her enduring commitment to its future.
Margaret was a devoted wife to Carl and shared in his lifelong commitment to the Masonic fraternity. She was a proud and long-standing member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Bethalto Chapter #847, where she exemplified the organization’s values of charity and loving-kindness.
Throughout Carl’s tenure as Past Worshipful Master of Bethalto A.F. & A.M. Lodge #406, Margaret was a constant presence at his side, supporting the lodge’s missions and community initiatives. Her involvement also extended deeply into the Ainad Shriners community, where she cherished the fellowship of fellow members and regularly attended dinners and social events.
She is survived by her son, Dion Roe (partner, Jennifer Sparks); two grandchildren, Ian Roe (wife, Karlie) and Darian Poe (husband, Timothy); her sister, Judith Roe; and 15 nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Paul Ross.
