Margaret Lucille Denson

Margaret Lucille Denson, 83, passed away at 3:07 pm Thursday April 29, 2010 at Life Care of LaCenter, Kentucky.

The former Margaret Lucille Smith was born on September 6, 1926 in Pembroke, Kentucky, the daughter of John Trice & Sue (Eddins) Smith.

She married Wayne E. Denson on November 24, 1948 in Brookport, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1990.

She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and was employed at Owens-Illinois Inc. for 30 years until she retired when the plant closed. 

After the death of her father, at the age of 10, she went to live with her Aunt and Uncle, William and Hazel Smith in Allegre, Kentucky.  She spent the years growing up with her cousin, Wilma (Smith) Mock who currently resides in Hopkinsville Kentucky with her husband Neal Mock.

She was the last of her family with five sisters and two brothers preceding her in death.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & George Salof of San Antonio, Texas and Denise & John Fields of Kevil, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Suzanne Salof and her husband Chris Yount of New Braunfels, Texas, and Dea Panke and her husband Brian of Columbus, Ohio; one great granddaughter, Taylor Panke of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, a special niece Susan Denson Potter and husband, Jim of St. Charles, MO; and a special friend and caregiver, Debbie Northington of LaCenter, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm Monday May 3, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev. Andre’ Dobson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
