Margaret Louise Layton, 80, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11:15 pm.
She was born on June 5, 1939, in Dexter, MO, the daughter of Homer and Margaret (Hudgens) Perrigan. She married James Franklin Layton in Bloomfield, MO, on May 13, 1954. He preceded her in death in November 2002.
Margaret was a member of the Meadowbrook Assembly of God and enjoyed yard sales, crocheting, and sewing. She also really enjoyed her family, especially her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Groshong, Carol Hartline, Robert Layton, Debora Layton, Janet Webb, Ronald (Donna) Layton and Glenn Layton; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Perrigan and two sisters, JoAnn Leanard and Shirley Ellis.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 16, 2019, from 10 am until time of service at 1 pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
