Margaret Eller Margaret E. Eller, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Eunice Smith Home in Alton, with family by her side.She was born September 15, 1925, in Wood River, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Balster) Deist. She married Leo Eller, Jr. on January 19, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.  He preceded her in death on January 2, 2012.She attended Bethalto Grade School and the 3-year high school there and graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School in 1943. She was employed for 4 years in the factory office of Western Cartridge Co. from 1943 to 1947.She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and had been active in Sunday school, Ladies Aid, Braille Workers, Choir and Altar Guild. She enjoyed travelling, bowling, sewing, playing cards, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Martha Eller of Jacksonville Beach, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Dave Greiner of Florissant, MO; four grandchildren, Jeff Eller and his wife, Merritt, Kristin (Eller) Scott and husband Roy, Beth (Greiner) Glasscock and husband Matthew, and Joel Greiner and his wife, Brandy; and eleven great grandchildren, Kate and Madeleine Eller, Madison and Owen Scott, Jordan, Clay and Isaac Preusch, and Josiah, Aiden, Mason, and Zoey Greiner.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, and her brother, Leonard Deist.The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff of Eunice Smith Home for their loving care over the past six years, as well as the caregivers of BJC Hospice.Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2017, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Kale Hanson and Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School.
