FIELDON - Marcia Lea (Zimmerman) Watson, 82, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at 4:34 p.m. at home and now rests in eternal peace.

She was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on October 25, 1935, to the late John Bahr and Lillian Vallette (Stamper) Zimmerman.  She graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1953 where she was a majorette and participated in the band and drama club.  Marcia was a beautiful person, appreciated education, and enjoyed being a student.  She was grateful for the Jerseyville Public Library and for most of her life, read several books a month.  She always had a friendly smile, great sense of humor, and a go with the flow attitude.

She married Earl “Junior” Watson on July 7, 1953, in Jerseyville and they had celebrated 38 years together before his passing in 1992.  Marcia and Junior were active and supportive in their community, spent time playing cards with friends, enjoyed their many trips to Las Vegas and were devoted fans at their kids’ events.  Together they raised five children who will miss her deeply, Monica, David, Brian, Malea and her husband Ron Hagen, and Melany and her husband Matt Bechtold.

Besides being a loving mother, she was a caring grandma to Tyler, Dray, Megan, Drew, Jaron, Lily Kate, and Chrisley.  She continued to be a fan at their events and was always a reliable taxi.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Zimmerman, and grandson, Tyler Watson.

We would like to thank BJC Hospice, Fieldon United Church of Christ, JCH Medical, Medicine Shoppe, Home Instead, Alton Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony’s Hospital, and Crawford Funeral Home for their part in her care.

Per her wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, at a private ceremony at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. The family invites you to join them in sharing memories of Marcia at a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Peach United Church of Christ in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jerseyville Public Library, Fieldon United Church of Christ, BJC Hospice, Alton Memorial Cancer Fund, or St. Anthony’s Cancer Fund.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
