Manuel Crouch

Manuel Stance Crouch, 91, of East Alton, IL, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Fri. Jan. 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born Feb. 7, 1926 in Mildred, MO to the late John & Bernice (Edwards) Crouch.

On June 12, 1948, he and Mary Jo Kimpton were married in Columbia, MO.  She survives.

Stance was a U.S. Airforce veteran and had been the Director of Belleville Mental Health Center with a staff of 50, retiring after 27 years of service.  He was a creative artist, who enjoyed drawing, wood burning and singing.  He loved rocks, clouds, driftwood and jokes.  He was kind, unselfish and caring and never failed to see the beauty in nature.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Michelle “Shelly” (David) Gordon of Morgan Hill, CA and Melinda “Mindy” (Carl) Alston of Wheaton, IL; a grandson: Ben Alston; and 2 brothers: John Crouch of Taneyville, MO and H.R. Crouch of Laredo, TX.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: David Crouch; and 2 brothers: Clifford Crouch and Dale Crouch.

Memorial visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of a reflective memorial at 3:00 p.m. Sat. Feb. 3, 2018 at Paynic Home for Funerals. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 5A’s.
