Mable Louise Sitton, age 87, of Godfrey, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born December 7, 1926, in Starke, FL, the daughter of Emmitt and Maggie Mae (Oglesby) Adkins. She married Harold “Smokey” Sitton on October 24, 1948, in Jacksonville FL, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sitton retired from Olin Corporation after 22 years as a machine operator. She was a former member of the Calvary Southern Baptist Church, as well as the Ladies Auxilliary of the VFW Post #1308 in Alton. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Titchenal, and Karen and Chris Brueggeman; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Sitton, and Daniel and Debbie Sitton; a brother and a sister-in-law, Bill and Louise Adkins; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Harold “Smokey”; she is preceded in death by a son, Ralph W. Sitton; her parents; four brothers, Earl Adkins, James Adkins, Lawrence Adkins and Ulysses Adkins; and three sisters, Iva Petty, Letha Hallman, and Kitty Cox.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 am, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain David Heyen officiating.
Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beverly Farm.
