Mabel Grizzle, 95, died at 4:49 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born October 25, 1921 in Jasper County, IL, she was the daughter of Frank and Fairy V. (O’Dell) Miller. Mrs. Grizzle was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. On August 15, 1938 she married Frank E. Grizzle in Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1996. Surviving is a daughter, Betty J. (Lester) Bertels of Dorsey, a son, Donald E. (Lynda) Grizzle of Madison, AL, five grandchildren, Jeffrey A. (Melinda) Bertels, Tracey Smith, Keith A. (Ann) Bertels, Karen (Joe) Fernandez, and Sharon (Steve) Honaker, 18 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Dixie Cobb of Broken Arrow, OK. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Aden, Nolen and Carl Miller and three sisters, Ruby Beauchamp, Bonnie Adams and Fern Leach. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Friday, February 17, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate.
