Mabel C. Williams, 93, went to be with the Lord at 7:15 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.
Born Jan. 27, 1925 in Enfield, IL, she was a daughter of H.E. James and Winnie (Palmiter) James.
She married Larkin C. Williams July 27, 1951. He passed away Nov. 14, 1998.
A member of 1st Baptist Church in Cottage Hills, Mabel loved singing in the church choir and playing piano. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She had been a dietary aide for 20 years at Alton Mental Health Center.
Survivors include a son, John (Norma) Gilbert of Wood River; a stepson, Gary (Iva) Williams of Bethalto; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; 12 siblings and a stepson, Mike Williams.
The family would like to thank Jennifer Davis for being Mabel’s loving caretaker for the last 5 years.
Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Bob Battles will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the 1st Baptist Church of Cottage Hills.
