Lynn Munie

Lynn Ellen Munie, nee Rittenhouse, 72, of New Baden, IL, born January 17, 1954, in East St. Louis, IL, died Friday, February 6, 2026, at her residence.

Lynn dedicated her life to caring for others. She quickly became a motherly role model for her siblings after her mom passed. She spent her career as a nurse, working in geriatrics, home health, and stem cell transplant. She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went, including bathrooms, fitting rooms and any line she ever waited in. She enjoyed star gazing, UFO’s, and all things paranormal. We are certain she is currently trying to figure out how to return to haunt us.

She spent her retirement spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She loved nothing more than filling them up with sugar and sending them home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, a phenomenal nurse, and will be greatly missed by all she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mitzi, nee Mongan, Rittenhouse; two stepmothers, Geri Rittenhouse and Pat Rittenhouse; parents-in-law, Mel and Kay Munie; sisters-in-law, Madonna Munie and Angela Munie; and a stepbrother, Jay Jordan.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Kevin Munie, whom she married September 15, 1973; three daughters, Bridget (Ryan) Hagerman, Kimberly (Bret) Schuetz, and Rebecca (Tyler) Eggold; seven grandchildren, Declan Wilson, Keegan Munie, Connor Schuetz, Kiera Eggold, Lorelei Schuetz, Kellen Eggold, and Kori Eggold; six brothers, Steven (Cheryl) Rittenhouse, Gary (Nancy) Rittenhouse, Bernard (Margie) Rittenhouse, Dennis (Roni) Rittenhouse, Joseph (Karen) Rittenhouse, and Tim (Shauna) Rittenhouse; three sisters, Carol (Jack) Fritz, Susan Rittenhouse, and Noreen (Art) Sheridan; a stepsister, Diane (Mark) Adams; and a large extended family of cherished in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
