Lydia M. Fry, 87, passed away at 5:05 am Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. 

She was born on October 31, 1923 in Hamel Township, IL, the daughter of Otto and Amanda (Albrecht) Gusewelle.

She married Clarence Fry on May 14, 1944 at St Peters Lutheran Church in Prairietown.  He passed away on February 23, 1988. 

Lydia was a time keeper and then worked in accounts payable at Olin Corporation for 37 years, retiring in December 1982.  She was a lifetime member of the Westerner Club, a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, the Women of the Moose, Wood River Chapter 263 with a Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder and College of Regents degree and was a volunteer member of St Anthony’s Health Center Auxiliary. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy Fry and Dan Girvan of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Hilda Marth of Bethalto and Eileen Brunnworth of Staunton; a niece, Diana Behrendt of Edwardsville and her nephews, Elton Brakhane of Phoenix, AZ, Larry Heflin of Rochester, MI and Roger Heflin of Mt. Olive, IL . 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Decker and Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made Zion Lutheran Church.
