Luann P. Flota, 80, passed away at 6:05 am, Friday June 8, 2012 at Provision Living in Godfrey, IL.
She was born April 21, 1932 in Columbia, IL, the daughter of the late Gustav William and Cecelia Agnes (Reiter) Stumpf.
On June 20, 1954 she married Ernie Joe Flota in Columbia, IL. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2010.
Luann graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with her Bachelors and Masters degree in education. She was a proud saluki alumni.
She retired from Alton Community School District #11 after teaching 3rd grade for 33 years. She was an active member of theFirst Presbyterian Church in Alton where she was a past Deacon and Elder. She belonged to the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She enjoyed, reading, gardening, Scrabble, canning, cats, and playing bridge at the Alton Senior Center. Her favorite past time was being with family and taking them on vacations to the beaches of North Carolina and Florida.
She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Cindy (John) Lewis of Godfrey, Martha (Rick) Plunk of Godfrey, Laura (Dale) Oswald of Independence, MO; two sons, Jeffrey Flota of Godfrey and Alan Flota of Elgin, IL; two brothers, Donald (Dee) Stumpf of Columbia, IL, and David (Bobbette) Stumpf of Godfrey; and ten grandchildren, Natalie and Amy Lewis, Jason and Lauren Plunk, Van, Joe, and Joni Oswald, and Zachary, Jordynne, and Jake Flota.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Monday June 11, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 10 am, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend David Crowley officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
