Louise Reeves

Louise Reeves, age 96 of Greenville and formerly of Mulberry Grove, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home, Greenville. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, September 28, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Mulberry Grove First Baptist Church or the Mulberry Grove American Legion Post #1180.

Helen Louise, the daughter of Harold Andrew Buchanan and Ethel Evelyn Austin, was born May 6, 1930, on the Buchanan family farm north of Mulberry Grove, Illinois. Louise grew up in Mulberry Grove, attended the one room school, Persimmon School, and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School with the Class of 1947.

Louise and Charles DeWitt Reeves were united in marriage on January 18, 1948, at the Buchanan Home. They enjoyed over 66 years together, Charles passed away on August 21, 2014.

Survived by their five children: Charlotte (John who passed away May 30, 2026) Nesbit of Greenville, Bill (Zita) Reeves of Greenville, Mike (Katherine who passed away December 9, 2022) Reeves of Greenville, Penny (John) Wait of south of Greenville, Patti (Tim) Maddocks of Strongsville, Ohio, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, sister Nina George of Maryville, Illinois, and sister-in-law Cheryl Buchanan of Greenville.

She was also preceded in death by 5 grandchildren, daughter-in-law Deanna Schaufelberger Reeves, sister Dorothy Davis Hawley, and brother Donald “Buck” Buchanan.

Louise and Charles were members of the First Baptist Church of Mulberry Grove. They enjoyed square dancing for many years, camping, spending many winters in Florida, and then many more in Mission, Texas.
