Louise Adele Travis

Louise Adele Travis, 98, went to be with the Lord at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.

She was born on June 27, 1909 in Alton, the daughter of the George H. & Sarah Elizabeth (Burns) Schwab.

She married Harold H. Travis on March 11, 1934 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1991.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Alton, a long time member of Trinity Missionary Society and a member of Episcopal Church Women and a graduate of Alton High School in 1927.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Jane Travis of Brighton, three grandsons and spouses, Andrew Travis of Brighton, Thomas & Tammy Travis of Hoffman, IL and Peter & Andrea Travis of Dassel, MN, four great grandchildren, Austin Travis of Godfrey, Amanda Travis of Hoffman, Olivia Travis of Dassel, MN and Amelia Travis of Dassel, MN, two nephews and a spouse, James Schwab of DeKalb, and George David & Shirley Long of Brighton, one sister-in-law, Jean Beth Walker of Greenville, longtime friends George & Virginia Coles of Dorsey, and Gary & Carol Sproull and their children of Alvin, TX.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers,
Margaret Long, Anne Stamps, George W. Schwab, Edwin Schwab and Lucretia Spiceland.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 21, 2008 at Trinity Episcopal Church 1909 State Street, Alton, IL.

Burial will be private at Godfrey Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Episcopal Church ?Missionary Ladies Society?
