Louis Thomas "Tom" Lebro, Jr.

Louis Thomas “Tom” Lebro, Jr, of Moro, Illinois, passed away at 6:33 pm on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

Tom was born on July 7, 1939 in Plainview, IL, the son of the late Louis, Sr. and the late Nellie (Wayman) Lebro.  He married Shirley A. Best on June 30, 1962 in St Peter’s Lutheran Church.  She preceded him in death on June 2, 2007.

Tom, was a proud Veteran of the United States Army.  Before retirement, Tom was a truck driver at Olin Corporation from 1962 to 2002. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown, a retired Prairietown Fireman, a member of Teamsters Local 525, past District’s Commander for AmVet Post 55 in Mt. Olive, where he was also on the color guard team, and a member of the VFW of Mt. Olive.  He enjoyed having morning coffee with the guys, he played softball until he was 55 and also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his six children and their spouses, Tony and Kathy Lebro of Prairietown, Angie and Brian Highlander of Staunton, Anita and Ed Riley of Staunton, Andrew and Stacey Lebro of Worden, Alec and Stephanie Lebro of Bunker Hill, and Aric and Jodi Lebro of Staunton; nineteen grandchildren and their spouses, Cassandra (Joey), Brian, Jr. (Brittnie), BrieAnna, Stephanie, Kayla, Alec, Jr., Aric, Jr., Keyshawn, Kira, Steven, Kaden, Sandra, Collin, Elizabeth, Lara, Emily, Madison, Kenzi and Corey; and a sister, Mary and James Zirkelbach of Benld, IL; and six great grandchildren, Bentlie, Connor, Brian III, Avery, Audrey and Delilah.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother Arthur Wayne Lebro.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown, IL, with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens with a military salute.

Memorials may be made to the Prairietown Fire Department and/or AmVets Post 55 in Mt. Olive.
