Louis A. Mellenthin, 77, of Rosewood Heights passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at River Crossing of Alton. He was born September 11, 1946 to George F. and Mildred G. (Steward) Mellenthin in Alton. He married Linda Brown June 21, 1969 in Alton.
Louis worked for Kienstra Illinois as a ready mix driver and a member of Teamsters Local 525 for over 35 years, before retiring in 2006. He loved being a husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Louis was also an avid fan of Bunker Hill girls basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Mellenthin of Rosewood Heights; daughters, LaDonna M. Mellenthin of Bethalto and Lucinda (Matt) Hovey of Glen Carbon; granddaughter, Rhece Masiero of Rosewood Heights and brothers, Andrew (Frankie) Mellenthin of Moro, John (Bonnie) Mellenthin, Nathaniel Mellenthin of FL, Michael (Donna) Mellenthin of Bunker Hill, Lonnie (Susie) Mellenthin of Bunker Hill, Ricky (Beth) Mellenthin of Bunker Hill and James (Holly) Mellenthin of Rosewood Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Mellenthin and two granddaughters, Abbigale and Daniele.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post in Bethalto, Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers we hope you will consider a charity of one’s choice, buying a stranger a meal, providing for a family in need or some other act of kindness that warms your heart.
