He was born in Brinkley, Arkansas on March 24, 1934 the son of John William and Lucille (Talley) Fulks.
He married Helen Lands on May 29, 1954 in Rosewood Heights, IL. She survives.
Louis was employed as a mold maker for Owen Illinois Glass for 43 years. He served his country in the US Army. He was also a member of the Alton Eagles, the Doby Club. And the Mississippi Valley Garden Club. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends.
He is survived by his spouse and four daughters and their spouses; Jaci and Brad Sweetman of Alton, IL. Kelly and Mike Freiner of Bethalto, IL. Jennifer and John Gottlob of Godfrey, IL. and Denise and Tracy Day of Alton, IL. eight grandchildren; Jake, Tanner, and Laci Sweetman, Christopher and Chelsea Freiner, Shelby and Sloane Gottlob, and Christian Day, four sisters; Joyce Bauswell of Alton, Il. Minnie and her spouse Delmar Dooley of Piasa Hills, IL. Carol Deem of Terra Haute, IN. and Jo Ann and her spouse Lloyd Bishop of Rosewood Heights, IL.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant sister Lucille.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday March 3, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday March 4, 2010 at 10 am. With the Rev. Bob Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL. Military rites will be accorded by the Alton VFW Post 1308 ritual team.
Memorials may be directed to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
