Lorine M. Smith, 83, passed away at 8:23 am Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Villa Rose in Bethalto.
She was born on May 2, 1931 in Dorsey, IL, the daughter of Fred E. and Mildred (Knoche) Bertels.
She married James A. Smith of Bunker Hill on November 23, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Bunker Hill.
Lorine lived most of her life in the Bunker Hill and Dorsey area. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey. She worked 30 years for Owens Illinois Glass in Alton.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Lynn Smith of Mt. Vernon, WA, Sharon Rhoades of Bunker Hill, and Janice and Kenny Kirk of Cottage Hills; six grandchildren, Michael (Gina) Bassett, Sherri (Hal) Williams, Dena Bassett Futch, Lori Smith, and Todd and Corey Kirk and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred Bertels, a sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Michael Bertetto, and a niece and nephew.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until services at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto with Pastor Kale Hanson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey.
