JERSEYVILLE- Lloyd S. Heneghan, 91, died at 2:15 a.m., Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past couple years.He was born in Jersey County on April 26, 1921, one of three sons born to the late Gus & Norma (Seet) Heneghan.Lloyd was a lifelong farmer in Jersey County, and was a man that knew what the meaning of hard work was.He volunteered his time and talents to many local endeavors, and one of his passions was the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, where he served on their board for over 50 years, many of those as President.He was also a loyal and devoted member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Jersey County Farm Bureau, and was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.He first married the former Mary Helen Miller on Jan. 11, 1947 at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Jerseyville, and together they were the parents of four children and shared 10 years together before her untimely death in an auto accident on May 9, 1957. He later married Evelyn Becker on Sept. 9, 1959 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton, and together they had two daughter that joined the family. Lloyd & Evelyn just recently celebrated their 53 wedding anniversary.Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Heneghan of Jerseyville; six children & their spouses, Mary Ann Daum of Carrollton, Thomas P. & Donna Heneghan of Paola, Ks., Jeane & Steve Dean of Quincy, Joseph & Rita Heneghan of Jerseyville, Charlotte Heneghan of Jerseyville, and Linda Kay & Rick Martin of Midwest City, Ok.; 16 Grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.In addition to his parents, and first wife, Lloyd was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, Floyd Heneghan who was killed in action during World War II and Sherald Heneghan.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a Prayer Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis Xavioer Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville or to Masses
