Lloyd Frye

Lloyd F. Frye, 95, died at 2:22 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Christian Hospital NE.  He was born January 4, 1922 in Wood River, IL the son of Harry J. and Bessie M. (Lyons) Frye.  He retired in 1984 as manager of logistical engineering at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis.  He was a member of St. Louis Genealogical Society, was a very talented woodworker and member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Florissant, MO.  On July 27, 1951 he married Melva Jean (Myers) and she preceded him in death on June 25, 1996.  On November 27, 1998 in St. Louis he married LaVara J. (Farmer) and she survives.  Also surviving are one daughter, Karen Frye of St. Louis, one son, Dennis Frye of Katy, TX, three step children, Alessandra R. Curtis (Bobby G. Curtis II), Deborah G. Tayon (Harry), and Andrea E. Colvin (Dan), three grandchildren, Dawn Kuhn (Darren) of Katy, TX, Jennifer Martinez of Katy, TX and Dustin Frye of Alton, one grandson in law, Rob Nash of Indiana,  33 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, one brother, Jerold Frye (Delores) of Bethalto and one brother in law, Lloyd McKean of Arvada, CO. Besides his first wife he is preceded in death by two daughters, Marsha Kay Frye and Donna Loy Frye, one son, Danny Gene Frye, one granddaughter, Jessica Nash, one sister, Marion McKean.  Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 with Father Steve Lawler Officiating.  Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors from Alton VFW Post 1308.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
