Lindell Wanick Dateline: Union, KYIn the early hours of Thursday, March 22, 2018, Lindell Wanick fell asleep in the arms of God.He was born December 1, 1947, in Alton, the son of Charles and Minnie (Housmann) Wanick. He married Alvina Marie Mosby on August 3, 1966 in Cottage Hills, at Concordia Lutheran Church.Lindell retired in 2010 from Olin Corp. in East Alton. He had worked in the several departments over the 40 year span, including the Box Shop and maintenance department of the Brass Mill. He was a regular attendee at the monthly retiree breakfast reminiscing about days gone by and catching up with good friends.In addition to his wife, Alvina; he is survived by sons Shane (Deana) Wanick of Leadwood, MO; Kyle (Kimberly) of Union, KY; grandchildren Quintin, Nicki, Tony, Jacob, and Taylor; step-grandchildren Alicia Jones, Randy and Wayne Politte; brothers Merle Wanick of Cottage Hills, Ed (Linda) Wanick of Goleta, CA; Marilyn (David) Woolsey of South Roxana, IL; half-sister Marcella (nee Bland) Becker, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Minnie (nee Housmann) Wanick and younger brother Stephen Wanick.Family was everything to Lindell. He working tirelessly to make sure his family was provided for and would visit extended family over the years.  He enjoyed fishing and would go whenever possible.  Lindell was an avid nature lover and enjoyed being in the woods either searching for morel mushrooms or just talking long walks. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and found them a source of endless energy and joy and looked forward to being with them.  Lastly, Lindell and Alvina enjoyed taking road trips in the later years, visiting places such as California, Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, and coastal Georgia.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, from 10:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, IL where he was a long time member.  Pastor Daniel Speckhard will be officiating.Lindell will be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
