Linda E. Watson, 71, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 at her home.
Born Feb. 28, 1952 in Wood River, she was a daughter of Carroll E. and Anneliese (Suck) Carney.
She married Billy E. “Bill” Watson June 15, 2007 in Las Vegas. He passed away Dec. 2, 2012.
Linda worked as a supervisor for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections for 22 years, retiring in 2015. She enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles and listening to 80’s music. She loved spending time with her family and cooking meals for them during the holidays.
Survivors include her mother, Anneliese Carney; her daughter, Julie (Jason Smith) Strader of Godfrey; two sons, Michael E. Strader of Pinckneyville and Matthew (Genin) Strader of Edwardsville; a stepson, Billy E. (Cassie) Watson, Jr. of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Ashley (Glen Johnson) Welch, Molly (Jake Stamper) Steelman, Mason and Logan Strader; 2 great grandchildren, Kinley and Benson Stamper; a sister, Peggy (Guy) Williams of East Alton; a brother, Hans (Dorothy) Carney of St. Peters, MO; a sister-in-law, Darlene Carney of East Alton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and her twin brother, Michael Carney.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 9 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 11 a.m. until services begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
