Linda Sue Spurgeon, 73, passed away, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in Eureka, Missouri, with her family by her side.She was born March 26, 1944, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Milton R. and Mary L. (Keasler) Tarrant.Linda married Thomas A. Spurgeon on December 1, 1962, in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2017.Linda was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and a previous member of St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in Rosewood Heights. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Bethalto Knights of Columbus. For 40 years, Linda enjoyed playing cards with her ladies group. She also enjoyed painting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.Survivors include two children and their spouses, April and Jeff Myers of Eureka, Missouri, Thomas and Becky Spurgeon of Pocahontas, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Kalkbrenner of St. Louis, MO, Andrew (Gabe) Kalkbrenner of Wildwood, MO, Emily Kalkbrenner of Pacific, MO, Thomas (Nichole) Spurgeon of Mulberry Grove, IL, Molly (Jacob) Safford of Valley Park, MO; six great grandchildren, Brianne, Riley and Tyler Kalkbrenner, Macie and Mia Safford, Lucas Kalkbrenner; siblings and their spouses, Dean Tarrant of Bethalto, IL, Dorothy and Darrell Hawkins of Scottville, IL, Shirley and Dan McCalley of O’Fallon, MO, Don and Donna Tarrant of Alton, IL, Ron and Janet Tarrant of Goreville, IL, Jeannette McCarthy of Jacksonville, IL, Dick and Jan Tarrant of Brighton, IL.In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Gene Tarrant; and two sisters in law, Erika Tarrant and Jeani Tarrant.A prayer service will be held at 1:30 pm followed by visitation from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral service will begin at 11 am on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of St. Louis or the American Diabetes Association.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
